The Void - Gold Edition [UPDATED]
We saw recently that the previous photo-unboxing we did, hailing back to the old website, was getting a bunch of views - so we thought we’d get an updated one done for you all, both here, and on YouTube.
Here is our YouTube unboxing, but if you’re looking for the photo-unboxing, then scroll down!
The Void Gold Edition was released back in May 2017 from 8-films.de at the price of €150.00 - it is limited to 66 units, although each of the Mediabooks (A-D) were made available separately in decreasing quantities.
Our copy is number 16/66, as shown on the reverse of the outer box in a small gold triangle - and again on the reverse of each of the Mediabooks themselves. The design of the set is done in such a way that it allows the cover art to be somewhat displayed - and you could choose which of the four to have up front on display. Even though D is my favourite of the covers, my brain tells me that A should be at the front, so that’s how it is usually displayed in our collection :)
Below: Cover A - this one is limited to 555 units outside of the Gold Edition.
This cover is very ‘classic horror’ styled, and looks great with the muted colours.
I’ve included shots of the disc inserts for this one but not any of the others, purely because these inserts are identical across all four Mediabooks. The only difference between them are the covers themselves. If you want to see the 32-page booklet in full, scroll to the bottom for those photos!
Below: Cover B - limited to 399 units outside of the Gold Edition.
This cover is the brightest and most bold of the designs, and gives off a lot of retro vibes with the overall styling as well as the font of the title.
Below: Cover C - limited to 111 units outside of the Gold Edition.
This is the simplest of the cover designs, with a very minimalistic look, focusing on the void in the centre with the purplish tentacles reaching through. It’s quite hard to see the detail on camera due to how dark the centre of the void is, but it’s very
Below: Cover D - limited to 99 units outside of the Gold Edition.
This is my favourite of the four covers, as the highly detailed eye design is stunning. It’s always a shame that the most attractive covers are the rarest, as they’ll be the ones most people want anyway - so this just makes it even harder to get a hold of. Had I just went for one of the four, this is definitely the one I’d have tried to get my hands on.
And finally, here are some in-depth shots of the 32 page booklet (aside from the start/end pages as these are shown with the disc inserts above with Cover A). Most of the information included within the booklet is printed in German, since this is a German release - but the images are still glorious to look at.
Hope you’ve enjoyed our The Void - Gold Edition Unboxing :)
